The US Supreme Court generally releases its most consequential and catastrophic decisions while I’m on vacation trying to avoid the news. Recent Supreme Court decisions are—alongside congressional hearings into the attempt to use an armed mob to overthrow American democracy—a major reason why I feel like I need to get away. In my last post, I was skeptical that anger either at the Dobbs decision or at the revelations coming out of the January 6 Committee would be enough to keep Republicans from winning the House in November, but I’m starting to wonder whether those things may make a real difference. I’ll be back with a new post in two weeks.
